FIRE SAFETY TIPS FOR A SAFE AND FUN SUMMER
Summer is here and so is the start of fire season per Coos Forest Protection Association. Information can be found at https://www.coosfpa.net/. As we progress through these summer months and take advantage of these beautiful amenities our county has to offer here are some important guidelines to follow:
• Check local restrictions before burning.
• Fully extinguish campfires with water and stir until cool to the touch.
• Avoid parking vehicles in dry grass.
• Secure trailer chains to prevent sparks.
• Keep a shovel and water source nearby when outdoor burning is conducted.
As a reminder from the national park service, almost 85% of wildfires occur from human error. By following these simple guidelines, we can all help reduce wildfire risk, protect our communities, forests, and natural resources throughout the summer.
Have a safe and fun weekend -Coos Bay Fire Department
