Students and their families head into Cesar Chavez K-8. The school community is launching mutual aid efforts after a father of one of its students was detained by ICE.

Less than 12 hours after a César Chávez K-8 parent on his way to work was detained by federal immigration agents Tuesday, more than 60 people from the North Portland school community dialed in to a quickly organized online meeting to collectively brainstorm about how to make sure there will be no next time.
