Description

My first stop on the District’s Bandon-area clubs was at Coquille on Wednesday, the 19th. This club has its own space inside the Frazier Bakery, which allows them to leave their banners and flags up. One of the most cheerful presidents you’ll ever meet is here – Susie Breuer. This small club had a few guests/potential members in attendance – impressive for a club of 27. When I asked Susie what their secret was for attracting members, she said, “Enthusiasm!” I believe it.
Carl Wilson has been a member of the Coquille Club since 1985. He told me about the foundation they started with the legacy gift from a former member of Coquille Rotary. They have grown that seed money into more than a million dollars, which is why they are able to do so much to impact their town of about 4,000 people.
We talked about leveraging our resources – in this case, partnerships. Tim Morgan, who runs the Coquille Chamber of Commerce, was there (as a potential member.) We talked about possibilities for joint projects.
