OPB and KMHD are welcoming two new leaders in December. Amanda Green will serve as OPB’s chief financial officer and Gillian Flaccus will serve as OPB’s news director. Additionally, Aaron Scott, who has been serving in an interim role, has been named Executive Editor of Science and Environment.

Amanda Green is a CPA with twenty years of experience in nonprofit financial management. Her career has spanned financial leadership roles at many organizations, including Oregon Consumer Justice, SMART Reading, Bitch Media, Pro Choice Oregon, Northwest Earth Institute (EcoChallenge.org), SurvJustice, and PAVE.

As a passionate advocate for financial education, Amanda taught nonprofit finance and budgeting for the Certificate in Nonprofit Fundraising Program at The Peoples’ Nonprofit Accelerator for five years. She has served on multiple nonprofit boards, including the Portland chapter of Financial Executives International, where she is currently a member of the board.

She holds a BS in Consumer Affairs in Government from the University of Wisconsin, a Master’s in Public Administration from Portland State University, and a post-baccalaureate accounting certificate from Linfield College.

Green will provide strategic oversight of OPB’s financial activities and will join OPB on December 5, 2025.

Gillian Flaccus is an award-winning news veteran with more than 25 years at The Associated Press as both a reporter and news director both in Southern California and Portland. Most recently, she served as AP’s assistant news director for Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska and Hawaii. Her team won the Scripps Howard Award for Excellence in Breaking News for their coverage of Maui’s deadly 2023 wildfires.

Over the years, she has covered major stories across the U.S., including Hurricane Katrina, the deadly Palisades, California wildfire, mass shootings in Colorado and California and numerous earthquakes. She is trained in video shooting and production and frequently reported in both text and video on breaking news and enterprise stories.

Flaccus graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Asian Languages and Civilizations from Amherst College. She attended her senior year of high school in Cherbourg, France and earned her French baccalaureate. She also studied at Beijing University in her junior year of college. She speaks fluent French and some Mandarin Chinese.

She will join OPB as News Director on December 15, 2025

OPB partnered with URL Media Recruiting & Talent Development on both these searches.

Along with Green and Flaccus, OPB recently named Aaron Scott as Executive Editor of OPB’s Science and Environment team, where he leads content production for “Oregon Field Guide” and “All Science. No Fiction.” This is Scott’s third stint at OPB, with highlights including the acclaimed podcast “Timber Wars” and an hour-long special following the path of the 2017 total eclipse.
