Description
BANDON – Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center held its annual free drive-through Flu Shot Clinic on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Bandon City Park.
Three hundred thirteen flu vaccines were administered by Southern Coos Hospital medical professionals, according to Cori Valet, Chief Nursing Officer at SCHHC. In addition, 185 COVID boosters were administered.
The number of people attending the clinic indicates that the public continues to appreciates this yearly free service provided by SCHHC and funded by the hospital and the Southern Coos Health Foundation.
The event went smoothly and the weather was favorable, so staff did not have to administer shots in the wind and rain as is often the case.
The flu vaccines were provided at no cost to the public but donations were accepted. A little over $1,400 was collected in cash donations. The funds will help offset the costs associated with the clinic. SCHHC and the Southern Coos Health Foundation are grateful for the support.
For those who were unable to make it to the clinic, flu vaccines, both the high dose for those 65 and older and the regular dose, as well as COVID vaccines, are still available through the Southern Coos Multi-Specialty Clinic by appointment by calling 541-329-0154.
Flu vaccines are also available in Bandon at Rite Aid, Coast Community Health Center and North Bend Medical Center. Call one of those facilities for more information.
