LUCKY LIBRARY CARD THURSDAY FOR LIBRARY CARD SIGN UP MONTH

September is Library Card Sign Up Month and to celebrate we are implementing Lucky Library Card Thursday. Each Thursday in September we will randomly draw 5 library card numbers and post the last six digits of the numbers in the library near the circulation desk. If your library card number is selected, you win a prize from the prize basket! This contest is just for Coos Bay Library Card holders so you must live in either the 97420 or 97407 zip codes to win.

Want to get in on the fun but don’t have a library card? Don’t worry, getting a library card is easy. You can sign up in person or online. To sign up at the library all you need is a picture ID with your current mailing address in Coos or Curry County. If your ID doesn’t have your current address, just bring in a piece of mail, a lease, or a utility bill with your name and current address along with your ID and we will be happy to get you signed up!

You can also apply for a library card online and we will mail it to you. Just go to our website, hover over “Books and Borrowing” and click “Get a Card” or type https://www.coosbaylibrary.org/get-a-card into your browser. Then fill out the application and submit it and we will take it from there. You can expect to get your library card through the mail in about a week.

And don’t forget the kids! Kids love having their own library card and using it to check out their selections of books, games and videos. There is no set age limit for when a child is allowed to get their own card, they just have to be able to write their name so that they can “sign” their application form. They do need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian with picture ID and a local address as that adult will be added to their account as the responsible party. If your child doesn’t have a library card yet, bring them into the library to get one. We love giving out first library cards.

So, if you have a library card make sure to stop by on Thursdays to see if you are a winner and if you don’t have one, stop by or go online to get one and then join in on all that the library has to offer! Featured News by City of Coos Bay
