NATIONAL POETRY MONTH

Did you know that April is National Poetry Month? To help celebrate the beauty of poetry the Coos Bay Public Library will be featuring poetry programs throughout the month. On Thursday, April 9, Oregon Poet Laureate, Ellen Waterston, will be holding two exciting events at our library. The first is Rewilding Words, a writing workshop that will include handouts and a variety of in-class approaches for writers of both poetry and prose. This workshop will take place from 4-5:30 p.m. and is open to teens and adults.

The second event is The Poetry Express, a presentation and poetry reading in which Ellen will reflect on her experience and the Poetry in Public Places initiative she has underway across the state. The readings will include her work and the work of others, including students she has met during her travels. This fun event will take place from 6-7 p.m. and is open to teens and adults.
