RETAIL THEFT OPERATION RESULTS IN 15 ARRESTS IN HILLSBORO On April 24, Hillsboro Police partnered with local retailers for a coordinated retail theft enforcement operation funded through the Oregon Retail Theft Grant Program, focused on accountability, safety, and prevention. During the operation: • 20 individuals were contacted • Multiple arrests were made, including cases involving firearms and outstanding warrants • Repeat offenders and trespass violations were identified • Ongoing theft activity, including potential organized efforts, was disrupted Individuals contacted and charges: Perry, Maggie Jo – Theft II, PCS Schedule II Tapia Rivera, Luis Gerardo – Theft III, Criminal Trespass I Sperry, Randall Paul – CCW Firearm, Resisting Arrest, Assault on Public Safety Officer Thompson, Verlon Bryant – Warrant (FTA UUV), Theft II Peterson, Andrew Jordan – Theft II Whitley, Bailey Jo – Theft II, Trespass Hyland, Chelsea – Theft II, PCS Meth Coy, Kylee Leanne – Theft II, PCS Schedule II Reyes-Lopez, Maria – Theft III Rosas Pedrisco, Kevin – Theft II, PCS Meth Brannon, Takhyra Safari – Theft II Curry, Emily-Elizabeth Rose – Theft III Rice, Isaac Paul – Theft II, PCS Meth, PCS Fentanyl Robinson, Jimaal Allen – Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession, Theft III Ross, Jennifer Sue – Warrant Theft II, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession, Theft III Retail theft impacts employees, businesses, and the overall sense of safety in shared spaces. Seven hours. Ten teams. Real world pressure. The Washington County Crisis Negotiation Team earned first place in a regional, scenario based competition in Spokane. Teams from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana participated, each facing complex and realistic scenarios designed to test decision making under pressure. This kind of training prepares negotiators for the moments that matter most. CNU negotiators focus on establishing communication, building rapport, and reducing emotional intensity through dialogue, while simultaneously gathering intelligence, assessing threats, and developing behavioral profiles to guide decision making. Working alongside tactical teams and mental health professionals, they use empathy, active listening, and structured negotiation strategies to slow down incidents, increase options, and resolve crises safely for all involved. The result reflects a shared commitment to serving the community with Dignity, Respect, Service, and Just Outcomes. If you have seen or know where to find Eric Marts, please call 911.This morning, deputies tried to arrest 47-year-old Eric Daniel Marts for an outstanding warrant. After making contact with Marts, he jumped out of a window and ran near the 3000 block of SW 121st Avenue in Beaverton. Deputies contained the area and searched with a K9 and a drone, but did not locate Marts. Marts is wanted for sex crimes involving minors. On April 23, our Code Compliance team responded to a call that turned into a moment of care and teamwork. Near Highway 26 and Helvetia Road, they located an injured hawk grounded and vulnerable. With patience and coordination, officers safely captured the bird using a large net and kept it secure until help arrived. A partner from Bird Alliance of Oregon took custody of the hawk and will work toward possible rehabilitation. Not every call fits neatly into a category. What started as a simple welfare check turned into a stolen vehicle arrest. Yesterday morning, one of our Community Engagement Officers stopped to help with a disabled Kia Sorento. The driver said he was heading out to get gas, but something didn’t add up. The officer quickly confirmed the vehicle had switched plates and was reported stolen. As additional officers arrived, the suspect ran. Officers contained the area, and K9 Mac and his handler, Officer Kevin Mesch, picked up the track. Mac led officers right to the suspect, who was hiding under a box truck. After another short attempt to run, he was taken into custody inside a nearby business. Chesley McMains (54) was arrested on charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, and escape in the third degree. This is a good example of how staying observant, working together, and using our K9 team helps keep situations from escalating and keeps our community safe.

April 21, 2026: The DEA Seattle Division announces drug arrests and drug seizures from warrants served in our city this morning. We appreciate the efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration in removing a significant quantity of dangerous drugs from our community. Efforts like this help keep our neighborhoods and our kids safe.Today the DEA Portland District Office served two federal narcotics warrants in Hillsboro, Oregon, resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of 3.8 kilos of methamphetamine. On April 2 at 10:45 am, observant work by our Community Impact Team led to the safe arrest of a wanted individual here in Hillsboro. Officers recognized a vehicle and, through proactive investigation, learned the driver was wanted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a Burglary I case. Deputies had been actively searching for the suspect at another location. Our officers safely took Gerardo Guzman-Altamirano into custody without incident. During the arrest, they recovered an unloaded Smith and Wesson .38 Special revolver, 12 rounds of ammunition, and methamphetamine. This case reflects the importance of awareness, coordination, and steady police work. It also highlights our commitment to keeping our community safe while acting with dignity, respect, and professionalism in every contact. Guzman-Altamirano faces charges including Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Additional charges are being pursued by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Case #26-6205
