11th Grade Career-Day
Good morning folks, my name is Mike Francis, and I teach Careers and Finance at RCCS. Today, 10/2/25, I had groups of 3-4 students rotate around the library and conduct a soft interview with 5 professions: Construction and Contracting, Mechanics in Logging, the U.S. Coast Guard, Information and Technology and our local fire department. I also invited administration and staff that were available so they could experience the round-robin of 8-minute sessions.
Students jotted notes from each interviewee and class appeared to be focused and engaged with our local professionals. There are plans to have more professionals showcase their experience, wisdom, and skills (November and December). I’m grateful for each guest’s time and for sharing their craft with my juniors.
While my list of potential guests isn’t ratified, if you have questions or would like to conduct a session showcasing your profession, feel free to email me at [email protected]. The next event is penciled in for early November as to allow background checks and coordinating with all parties that are participating. I believe the students gained a lot from today’s lesson.
