❤️ A life-saving partnership between the City of Brookings and Cal-Ore Life Flight made a critical difference during a recent medical emergency.
🤝 Cal-Ore recently helped the City of Brookings purchase AEDs at a substantial discount, making it possible for every patrol vehicle to carry one. AEDs are portable, life-saving medical devices used during sudden cardiac arrest to analyze the heart’s rhythm and deliver a shock when needed to help restore a normal heartbeat.
At times, City of Brookings Police officers are the first to arrive at a cardiac emergency, and having the ability to act immediately can save a life. Cal-Ore not only helped us purchase the AEDs, but also provided training so our officers would be ready when every second counts.
📞 On the afternoon of February 9, Brookings Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting that a 75-year-old woman was unconscious and not breathing. Four officers arrived on scene, and Officer Branion applied the AED and delivered a shock to the patient before Cal-Ore personnel arrived and continued CPR.
✨ This incident is a powerful reminder of how important partnerships like this are. Having the right equipment and training can make all the difference.
