Description
Meet Stephanie! Stephanie is the Operations Director at The SAFE Project and has dedicated over 11 years to her role as a Certified Victim & Sexual Assault Lead Advocate, making a valuable difference in the community she has called home her entire life. 🌊
❓What is one thing you wish the general community understood about supporting survivors?
"I wish the community understood that Domestic Violence isn't just bruises, it isn't just ER visits or late night response. Domestic Violence is emotional, it's intimidation, it's power over another, and above all else people need to know that leaving isn't as simple as one would think. The community needs to rally around those trying to get help instead of blaming them for not leaving soon enough."
❓What gives you hope or keeps you dedicated to this work after over a decade?
"Helping victims and survivors get back on their feet and know that they have at least one person on their side to believe them, stand by them, and help them is my heart's passion. I will continue to show up and be a voice for those whose voice has been muted by violence and oppression."
âť“ What message would you like to share directly with survivors?
"For survivors who may read this, or others who may currently be in a situation, please know that you are stronger than you think and braver than you know. We as advocates are available to help you navigate your way towards safety. You matter, and when you are ready, I will be there for you, no judgements, no requirements, no 'why' questions. Just me showing you that I care, that your safety matters to me, and that I will do my best to help!"
