Tony DeFalco, executive director of the Latino Network, urged the governor and lawmakers to restore the money and not balance the state’s 2025-2027 budget “on the backs of Black and brown and Indigenous people of color communities.”

Public safety advocates and street-level outreach groups in the Portland area on Friday urged state lawmakers to put back $10 million for community violence intervention that they said was abruptly removed this month from the Oregon Justice Department budget.
