Rep. David Gomberg pressed state officials to approve funding for a road project in his subdivision near Lincoln City. A sign at the entrance tells visitors the area is private property.

A powerful lawmaker from the Oregon coast will see the roads in his subdivision resurfaced using federal wildfire recovery money after he wielded his position and access as a legislator to press state housing leaders to clear hurdles raised by lower-level employees who repeatedly questioned whether the project qualified for funding.
