Description
April 30, 2026 has been proclaimed Vietnamese American Remembrance Day in Tualatin, recognizing the contributions, resilience, and sacrifices of Vietnamese Americans in our community.
Since the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, Vietnamese Americans have been an important part of Tualatin and Oregon, contributing to our community through culture, education, economy, and service. Many have come to call Oregon a second home.
Each year on April 30, Vietnamese Americans observe Remembrance Day to honor those who gave their lives in the pursuit of freedom and democracy, including 58,000 American soldiers, 810 from Oregon, one from Tualatin, and more than 300,000 South Vietnamese soldiers.
This proclamation was adopted at the April 13, 2026 City Council Meeting.
We encourage our community to join us in recognizing Vietnamese American Remembrance Day and reflecting on its significance.
