The couple was sentenced Friday to three years of probation after pleading guilty to illegally trafficking protected wildlife parts — including black bear gallbladders, rhinoceros horns and a tiger pelt — between Oregon and Vietnam. Linh Luu accepted a $1,435 payment for the export of four lion teeth from Tanzania that were then shipped to Oregon, according to federal prosecutors. The couple met an undercover federal agent in December 2020 in a parking lot, where they accepted $12,000 in cash as a down payment for part of a rhino horn and discussed ways to avoid U.S. banking regulations that could detect illicit transactions. They later each received nearly $5,000 in electronic payments for the horn segment, which was shipped to Oregon disguised as a household decoration
