CCSO release - Date/Time: September 7th 2026 / 10:54 p.m., Case #: S2026-01432, Classification: Violation of a Restraining Order, Location: 63000 Blk Jerome Road, Coos Bay, Oregon 97420, Suspect(s): Wade G. Brown (32), Summary: On September 7th 2026, a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 63000 Block of Jerome Road, just south of Coos Bay, to a report of a disturbance in progress. The deputy contacted the parties involved, including Wade G. Brown (32). During an investigation, it was learned that Mr. Brown was in violation of a court-ordered restraining order. As a result, Mr. Brown was arrested on the charge of Violation of a Restraining Order. Wade G. Brown (32) was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody pending court appearance.

Aggravated Theft, Coos Bay

CCSO release - Date/Time: August 5th – September 8th 2026, Case #: S2026-01222, Classification: Aggravated Theft I / Unlawful Use of a Credit Card, Location: 93000 Block of Ranch Lane, North Bend, OR 97459, Suspect(s): Brandie A Hughson (53), Summary: On August 5th 2026, the Coos County Sheriff's Office received a report that an employee had unlawfully used company credit cards belonging to a local business on Ranch Lane, just north of North Bend.  The individual reporting the crime stated that Brandie A. Hughson (53) had been their Office Manager and had fraudulently charged a large amount of money on the business credit cards, and they had just recently located the transactions.  During the investigation, the Coos County Sheriff's Office met with the business owners, Brandie, and several other witnesses. As a result of the investigation, on September 8th 2026, a deputy responded to Brandie A. Hughson's (53) residence and placed her under arrest for Aggravated Theft in 1st Degree (Embezzlement) and Unlawful Use of a Credit Card. Brandie A. Hughson was transported to the Coos County Jail.

Sentenced

CCSO release - On September 28, 2025, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a 9-year-old male who had been stabbed with a spear at a residence off of Cape Arago Highway. It was reported to Deputies on scene that the boy’s sister had accidentally stabbed him during play with a spear. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the boy had in fact been stabbed by his father, Levi Higgins-Green. Also uncovered during the investigation were instances of domestic violence involving the other adults and children who lived in the home which occurred over years. It should be noted that names have been omitted at the specific request of the surviving family. On August 31, 2026, Levi Higgins Green submitted a plea of Guilty to the following crimes: Strangulation – Constituting Domestic Violence; Assault in the Third Degree; Assault in the Second Degree – Constituting Domestic Violence; Assault in the Third Degree (Second Count); Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree; Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree (Second Count); Murder in the Second Degree. The Honorable Judge Martin Stone accepted the plea and sentenced Levi Higgins-Green to a combined sentence of 80 months (6.6 years) for the first six listed charges and an additional life sentence (minimum of 25 years or 300 months) for a total minimum prison sentence of 380 months or 31.6 years of prison. This case was investigated by the Coos County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from Coos Bay Police Department, Oregon State Police, Kids Hope Center, Charleston Fire Department, Bay Cities Ambulance and Eugene Police Department. The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Jody Newby.
