• Buying books on Amazon and letting Amazon ship them, or
• Rotarians can donate to the Rotary eClub State of Jefferson Foundation, donations are tax deductible, and we can purchase books for you.

I am so proud of the work involved to increase the usage of the bookmobile by getting it out in the community and creating awareness thru the schools. It’s a high-class problem to be running out of books!

Chinle Planting Hope is so grateful for our new R.E.A.D. in Beauty Bookmobile that expands the reading and learning opportunities for children and families in Chinle, Arizona, and surrounding communities.

There is an essential Navajo concept, “Walking in Beauty,” which teaches living in harmony (hózhó) with both one’s self and the natural world, while making good choices and expressing love. We have adapted Walking in Beauty to the Bookmobile. Its goal, and therefore its name, is R.E.A.D. in Beauty, because it aims to help community members, in partnership with our local teachers and school district, to expand their choices and educational opportunities in a respectful, safe environment.

The Bookmobile makes a variety of books and learning games available, strengthens literacy skills, and helps broaden children’s horizons. The Bookmobile empowers children to have adventures through story and helps enable them to dream of, and to create a better future for themselves, their families and their Native communities.
