MAYOR'S MESSAGE Representing Coos Bay and the South Coast at the Rose Festival This June, I had the honor of representing Coos Bay in the 2026 Rose Festival Mayors Marching Unit at the invitation of Portland Mayor Keith Wilson and the City of Portland. Joining me and my family were Councilor Troy Cribbins, Melissa Cribbins, Nichole Rutherford, and Scott Cooper. We were also pleased to be joined by North Bend Mayor Jessica Engelke, helping ensure the South Coast was well represented at this statewide event. The Rose Festival is one of Oregon's most recognized traditions, bringing together communities from across the state in a celebration of civic pride, culture, and community spirit. This year's event featured the inaugural CareOregon Grand Floral Starlight Parade, combining the pageantry of the Grand Floral Parade with the illuminated excitement of the Starlight Parade into one unique experience. Marching alongside mayors and community leaders from throughout Oregon provided a wonderful opportunity to represent Coos Bay, North Bend, and the South Coast while connecting with others who are dedicated to serving their communities. It was also a chance to showcase the pride we have in our coastal communities and share the unique character of our region with parade participants and spectators from across the state. I am grateful to Mayor Wilson and the Rose Festival organizers for extending the invitation. Events like these remind us that while every Oregon community is unique, we share a commitment to creating vibrant places where people can live, work, and thrive. It was a privilege to represent Coos Bay and the South Coast on this statewide stage. -Joe Benetti, Mayor of Coos BayPhotos from Coos Bay - City Government's post
