CHM release - The Coos History Museum invites the public to a special Bonus First Tuesday Talk on Tuesday, July 7, from 6:00–7:00 p.m., featuring historian William G. Robbins, who will present The American Revolution: An Enduring Paradox. As the United States approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Robbins will examine the enduring contradictions at the heart of the American Revolution. While the Declaration boldly proclaimed that “all men are created equal,” many people were excluded from the rights and freedoms it promised. Through this thought-provoking presentation, Robbins will explore the ideals, limitations, and lasting legacy of one of the nation's most influential founding documents. William G. Robbins is a distinguished historian and author whose work has focused on the history of Oregon, the American West, and the broader American experience. His presentation offers an opportunity to reflect on the complexities of the nation's founding as communities across the country begin commemorating America's semiquincentennial. This program will be hosted in-person at the Coos History Museum, with an admission price of $7 for non-members and FREE for CHM members. Doors open at 5:30 pm with time to explore the museum. Advanced registration is encouraged. Reservations can be made online at https://cooshistory.org/event-registration/, by phone at 541-756-6320, or in person at the museum’s front desk. Walk-ins are welcome for all Tuesday Talk programs!
