Description

City of North Bend release - Inflation has risen 23.5% over the past five years, making it harder for families and cities to make ends meet. In North Bend, your property taxes alone are not enough to cover the rising costs of public safety, infrastructure, and essential services.  But here's the good news: The City of North Bend is a responsible steward of your money.  Over the past 4.5 years, we’ve brought in $17.74 million in state, federal, and foundation grants—funding critical upgrades that property taxes couldn’t cover. That means for every dollar you paid in property taxes, city staff matched it with 93.2 cents in outside grant funding.  Let’s break that down:  FY 2025 property tax revenue: $4.68 million; Police services alone: $4.08 million; Fire and rescue: $2.17 million; And North Bend doesn’t stop there. Our team also helped secure another $4.93 million in grants for nonprofits and other local governments across Coos County.  Although grants have helped to fill the gap and keep our community safe and strong—they are not a sustainable source of revenue.  Want to understand where every dollar goes? Join us for the FY 2026 Budget Committee meetings on May 21 & 22 at 5:30 p.m. at North Bend City Hall or stream them live at www.northbendoregon.us  Your input counts. Budgeting isn’t just about numbers—it’s about values, priorities, and community.  Let’s work together to build a stronger North Bend.  Budgets and Other Finance Documents: https://www.northbendoregon.us/finance  Got Questions?
