City of North Bend release - The Oregon Department of Emergency Management (OEM) has awarded the City of North Bend two competitive grants that will strengthen the city’s digital defenses and safeguard public services. $25,000 – Secure Domain Migration (Grant CY23-108). Funds will cover planning and implementation costs to move North Bend’s website and e-mail to a more secure domain platform, reducing the risk of cyber-attacks that could disrupt city business or expose sensitive data. $7,946 – Endpoint/Extended Detection & Response (Grant CY23-107). This grant will purchase next-generation antivirus and threat-monitoring software for city computers, enabling real-time detection and rapid response to viruses, ransomware, and other malicious activity. Both projects will run June 1 2025 – May 30 2027 under the federal State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program. North Bend will cover no local match; OEM reimburses eligible expenses once the city submits proof of payment and quarterly progress reports. “Protecting community data and keeping critical services online are top priorities,” said David Milliron, North Bend City Administrator. “These grants let us modernize our cybersecurity tools without burdening local taxpayers.” The city’s IT team, led by Josh Wilson, will oversee procurement and implementation. Residents should not experience service interruptions during the upgrades. Got Questions? We've Got Answers! Contact us at www.northbendoregon.us/contact
