Description

Crews work on the Interstate 5 bridge over the Columbia River in 2019. The U.S. Coast Guard decided Friday that Oregon and Washington can go with a less expensive fixed span design for their bridge replacement project that would provide 116 feet of clearance for vessel traffic on the river below. Washington and Oregon will not have to build a drawbridge as part of the project to replace the aging Interstate 5 Bridge across the Columbia River, the U.S. Coast Guard decided Friday.
