COOS BAY MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG AND WEAPONS CHARGES
A Coos Bay man was arrested, and two CBPD search warrants yielded a significant amount of cash, suspected drugs, and firearms.
On April 13, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the North Coos 9-1-1 Center (NC911) received a call concerning a man that was sitting inside of a parked, running car in the parking lot of the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon (SWOYA), 3333 Walnut Avenue in Coos Bay. The caller expressed concern about the man's inability to stay awake and suspected drug use.
Prior to the arrival of Coos Bay Police Department (CBPD) officers, the individual fled his vehicle, leaving behind a bottle of suspected drugs. Officers were able to locate and detain the man, who was identified as 36-year-old Matthew Medeiros of Coos Bay.
Officers discovered a taser and a significant amount of cash with Mr. Medeiros, prompting CBPD officers to apply for and carry out a search warrant on his car. The search warrant uncovered suspected methamphetamine, heroin, and four firearms, one of which was stolen.
Following the search warrant on the car, officers obtained and executed a search warrant at Mr. Medeiros' home in the 1000 block of Maryland Avenue in Coos Bay. The search warrant resulted in twenty-one firearms, a significant quantity of cash, drugs (suspected fentanyl powder, methamphetamine, and heroin), and suspected and confirmed stolen property.
Mr. Medeiros was transported and booked into the Coos County Jail on the following charges:
• Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine
• Unlawful Possession of Heroin
• Unlawful Possession of Fentanyl
• Attempted Delivery of Methamphetamine
• Attempted Delivery of Heroin
• Attempted Delivery of Fentanyl
• 25 counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm
• Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon
• Theft 1 by Receiving
The CBPD was aided during this investigation by the Oregon State Police (OSP) and the North Bend Police Department (NBPD).
