The 118th running of the Coos Co. Track & Field Meet at Marshfield Friday night was won by the Pirate boys and the Coquille girls. Marshfield scored 176 pts. to Bandon’s 123, Myrtle Pt. 98, North Bend 44, Powers 31 and Coquille 29. The Lady Devils tallied 133.5 pts., Marshfield was second with 121, Bandon 112.5, North Bend 54, Powers 49 & Myrtle Pt. 35. Individually, three meet record fell. Two my the super senior from Bandon, Marla Petrey who set new records in winning the 100 (12:51) & 400 (58.13). She also ran a fantastic anchor leg on the 4X400 Relay, closing a large gap but still falling by a foot or two short at the end to Marshfield’s team (4:17.94) to (4:18.77). On the boy’s side, Marshfield’s Carter McGriff blazed to wins in the both the 100 (11:20) and the 200 (22.52). He also ran legs on the Pirates’ winning 4X100R (42.82) & 4X400R (3:26.09). Bandon’s Noah Brown won both the Pole Vault (13-6) & 800 (2:00.77). Marshfield senior Jaxson Stovall took the 1500 (4:05.25) and the 3K (8:59.53). The other meet record was obtained by Coquille sophomore Ella Henthorne, who bettered her Mom’s (Hollie Dieu) meet record in winning the 3K (10:03.67). Henthorne also won the 1500 (4:42.11) and ran a leg on Coquille’s third-place 4X400R team. Marshfield’s Rylee McNally won both hurdle races, the 100 16.90) & the 300 (47.56). She also ran anchor legs on both the Pirates winning 4X100 (51.74) & the 4X400 (4:17.94). Bristol Layton won both the Long Jump (15-10) & the Triple Jump (32-6.25). Boy’s Outstanding Runner was Carter McGriff, Marshfield. Girl’s Rylee McNally, Marshfield. Outstanding Jumpers: Brody Ligons (first in Long Jump), Myrtle Pt.; & Bristol Layton, Coquille. Outstanding Throwers: Wyatt Richards, MP (first in the Javelin & second in the Discus) & Danica Bushnell (first in Javelin, second in Shot), Powers. State leaders, Petry ran the fastest time in the 2A State for 400 meters. Teammate Jael Legutki ran the fasted 2A time for 3K (10:53.14).
