Description

Calling it “a clear pattern and practice of using public funds for personal gain,” the Curry County Board of Commissioners have referred an alleged controversial practice within the Sheriff’s Office where grant or donation monies have been used for personal purchases.  The Board has referred the allegations to the Oregon Government Ethics Commission.  At the center of the investigation is a report that $390,000 in private donations were used to purchase vehicles for former Sheriff John Bishop and his predecessor, the current Sheriff, John Ward.  Some of the funds were also allegedly used to purchase a boat, grill, and to pay for a retirement party.
