Big ideas, brave voices, and lots of heart 💚 Last night, students from Kalmiopsis Elementary spoke at the Parks & Recreation Commission meeting to share their ideas for Brookings parks. They were inspired after taking part in the City’s “My City” program. They brought creativity, excitement and constructive criticism. It was a wonderful reminder that some of the best ideas come from our youngest community members. The students even created a visual board to help share their ideas. After the meeting, they had the chance to meet Mayor Pereda, who thanked them for coming and encouraged them to one day serve on a Commission or Council. We love seeing Brookings youth show up, speak up, and share their hearts with our community.
