Description
DFPA, Roseburg Fire Department and other local responders are currently on scene of an estimated 4 acre fire near I5, milepost 124, in Roseburg, OR. Progress on this fire will be shared by Roseburg Fire Department.
Aerial resources have been grounded due to illegal drone use over the fire.
IF YOU FLY, WE CANT!
Federal, state, and local wildland fire management agencies and the Federal Aviation Administration (FFA) urge members of the public not to fly "Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)" or drones over or near wildfires. Unauthorized drone flights pose serious risks to firefighter and public safety and the effectiveness of wildfire suppression efforts.
Individuals who fly UAS without authorization over wildfires may be in violation of Federal, state, and/or local laws, regulations and ordinances, whether a Temporary Flight Restriction is in place or not.
Individuals who have been determined to have endangered manned aircraft or people on the ground with a UAS and/or interfered with wildfire suppression may be subject to civil penalties, including fines of up to $25,000, and potentially criminal prosecution.
