Description

The fortunate fourteen were Lisa M Dunagan, Angalee O’Connor, Sylvia Ryan, Rex F. Miller, Crystal Ann Rogers, Pam Logan, Fletcher Chamberlin, Taylor G Thompson, Kerry Oliver, Christopher Hazen, Jessica Price, John David Duffie, Jr., Sarah Causey Atkins, and
Charlie Kocher. The clubs represented were Ashland, Medford (Rogue), Eugene Southtowne, Jacksonville-Applegate, Central Point, Eugene-Delta
Bend-Mt. Bachelor, Bend, Eugene Metropolitan, Bear Creek Valley, No Borders, and Coos Bay-North Bend.
Kerry Oliver was appointed cat-herder-in-chief, and he put together several meet-ups where district 5110 came together, starting at the opening ceremony (pictured).
Christopher Hazen, a frequent Asia traveler who is fluent in Mandarin, took charge of ordering group meals, which meant we got a magnificent array of local Taiwan cuisine.
The Convention agenda was a blizzard of incredible speakers, most notably Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, who shared her perspective on girls’ education as well as her own journey from village activist to Nobel Laureate. We heard heartfelt words of farewell from outgoing RI president Francesco Arrezo and inspiring words of action from incoming RI president Yinka Babalola, the first ever Rotary chief executive to hail from Africa.
Next year’s convention will be in Barcelona. See you there!
