Description

If legislators really value education and want to improve student outcomes, they should stop passing bills that bleed money away from schools to serve other constituencies, the editorial board writes.

Oregon’s school districts have more money than ever before. The State School Fund — the primary pot of money for Oregon’s K-12 schools — is 50% larger now than 10 years ago, when schools were serving 30,000 more students. And the 2019 corporate activity tax has boosted public education by $1.5 billion a year.
