Description

Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe throws down a one-handed dunk in a February 2023 game against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Moda Center. State and local officials need to work together on making the decision to stay in Portland similarly effortless for the team’s new owner, the editorial board writes.

Conventional wisdom says that the Portland Trail Blazers, up for sale for the first time in 37 years, won’t be moved out of Portland. While the eventual buyer will almost certainly be from out-of-state, the expectation is that the NBA knows from past experience the perils of uprooting a beloved team.
