Description

The City of Coos Bay will remove the dock floats at the Empire Boat Launch, located at 152 S. Ross St., on November 3, 2026, for the winter season. The Oregon State Marine Board (OSMB) funds maintenance and projects for our boat ramps.  OSMB requires the dock floats to be removed during the rainy season to protect the floats from damage caused by winter storms. However, while the floats are removed it provides an opportunity for staff to complete annual maintenance and cleaning to help keep them in good condition for the next boating season. The floats are scheduled to be reinstalled in April 2027.  The boat ramp will remain open throughout the winter; however, dock floats will not be available.  Boaters are to use caution in and around the area while staff are removing the floats. Should you have questions, please feel free to contact Greg Hamblet, Operations Administrator, Public Works at (541) 269-8918.
