DEQ release - The Environmental Quality Commission will hold its next regular meeting on July 9-10, in Astoria and via Zoom. People may attend in person at the Cannery Pier in the Union Fish Meeting Room. Visit the EQC meeting agenda webpage for materials, links to staff reports and details to attend remotely via Zoom. Please note that the Zoom information is different for each day. On Thursday, July 9, the Department of Environmental Quality will provide an update on the Climate Protection Program, which is midway through its first three-year compliance period. The commission will also receive an update on the Recycling Modernization Act, covering program highlights, rulemaking activities, and ongoing implementation efforts. Additionally, the commission will hear a presentation on the Blue Economy in Northwest Oregon, highlighting initiatives to strengthen and diversify this sector, recent legislation, and collaborative local efforts. On Friday, July 10, the commission will consider allowing EQC Chair Matt Donegan to certify DEQ's 2027-29 Agency Request Budget and hear the Director's Report. The meeting will also include a Public Forum, where members of the public may comment on environmental and public health issues relevant to DEQ and EQC.
