At 2:01 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service released an extreme heat warning valid from Sunday noon until Tuesday 5 a.m. for Tualatin Valley, West Hills and Chehalem Mountains, Inner Portland Metro, East Portland Metro, Outer Southeast Portland Metro, West Central Willamette Valley, East Central Willamette Valley, Benton County Lowlands, Linn County Lowlands, Lane County Lowlands, West Columbia River Gorge I-84 Corridor, Upper Hood River Valley and Central Columbia River Gorge I-84 Corridor.

The weather service adds, "Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 97 to 103 expected coupled with mild overnight low temperatures of 60 to 70 degrees."
