Description

A thick cloud of tear gas and smoke blanketed the area near the intersection of South Bancroft Street and South Moody Street, where Mindon Ocon's apartment overlooks, after federal officers deployed chemical munitions to disperse crowds on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025.

An appeals court decision Saturday means federal officers for now will face no court-imposed limits on using tear gas outside Portland’s immigration enforcement building just as a “No Kings” march was set to begin.
