El festival celebró la resiliencia y la supervivencia de las culturas indígenas y afromexicanas a través de música, danza y comida vibrantes.Máscaras de madera intrincadamente talladas con cuernos y diseños detallados dieron vida a la danza de los diablos en el festival La Guelaguetza en Hillsboro.Chinas Oaxaqueñas de Oregon, un grupo de mujeres oaxaqueñas de Eugene se presentaron en La Guelaguetza.Las pesadas máscaras de madera que se usan durante la danza de los diablos pueden ser cansadoras para bailar, dijo Ricardo Sixto Gutiérrez.Los bailarines interpretan el jarabe del valle de San Antonino Castillo, un estilo tradicional de danza folclórica mexicana originario del estado de Oaxaca.Las máscaras de la danza de los diablos están adornadas con cuernos largos, en honor a las raíces narrativas africanas entretejidas en la historia de la danza.Los bailarines interpretan diablos de la costa, una danza tradicional afromexicana originaria de la región de la Costa Chica de Oaxaca, en La Guelaguetza.El sábado se presentaron bailarines de todas las edades, mostrando la variedad de estilos de danza oaxaqueña.El mascarero y bailarín Ricardo Sixto Gutiérrez elabora cada máscara de cedro a mano y pasa hasta tres semanas perfeccionando cada detalle.Los bailarines pisaban y giraban al ritmo de la música en vivo, vistiendo chivarras y portando látigos.Un animado desfile con bailarines y músicos recorrió el Parque Shute, involucrando a los asistentes al festival y mostrando las vibrantes tradiciones de Oaxaca en La Guelaguetza.

There will be Plein Air Artists painting new masterpieces outdoors in the garden, painting many of the flowers and scenes provided by our beautiful Shore Acres!
