Description

A vegetation fire burning southeast of Eugene has prompted officials to issue Level 3 — Go Now! — evacuation orders on Wednesday.

People living in the Hideaway Hills area east of Skyhawk Way from Hampton Road, south to Dillard Road, are advised to leave their homes immediately.

Deputies with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office are urging residents to not delay their evacuation by gathering any belongings or trying to protect their property.

The fire, which broke out Wednesday afternoon, is estimated to be about 2 acres. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Level 2 — Be Set — evacuation alerts have also been issued for multiple nearby neighborhoods, including those between:

  • Dillard Road
  • Hidden Meadows Drive
  • Skyhawk Way
  • Ridge Top Drive

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the Southern Willamette Valley starting Thursday afternoon. Officials warned warm temperature combined with low humidity and gusty north winds could lead to rapid wildfire spread.
