Description

The restored 10,000-pound lantern is back in its rightful spot at the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025.

Eight months ago, construction crews carried away the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse lantern, trucking it roughly 2,500 miles away to Alabama for some much-needed care. Early Tuesday, under cover of a foggy dawn sky, crews carefully guided the 11,000-pound lantern back to its rightful spot up top, signaling the upcoming reopening of Oregon’s second most visited state park.
