Former Gladstone police sergeant Blake Edward Benton pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the 2011 killing of his wife Debbie Higbee Benton.

A Gladstone police sergeant accused of killing his wife in her beauty shop 15 years ago appeared in Clackamas County Circuit Court Tuesday to plead guilty to first-degree manslaughter — the latest and, prosecutors hope, final development in the long-running case.
