Description

In one sign of the city's broad dissatisfaction with the federal government's actions in their city, hundreds of Portlanders took off their clothes and rode their bikes through the rainy streets on Oct. 12 to protest, “the militarization of Portland and the ongoing harm being done to immigrant and Indigenous communities,” according to a joint Instagram post from the World Naked Bike Ride, Rainbow Bloc, Revoke the ICE Permit PDX and NakedHearts:PDX.

Last January, Portland Mayor Keith Wilson took the helm of a city with a brand new form of government and a host of ongoing problems, including a growing homelessness and housing crisis, a stagnant local economy and a staggering backlog of infrastructure maintenance.
