ROSEBURG, Ore. - A Friday morning two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 23-year-old Roseburg woman. On Friday, August 8, 2025, shortly after 7:30 a.m., 911 dispatchers began receiving reports of a two-vehicle collision on Garden Valley Road near Ridgewood Drive. Deputies, along with Central Douglas Fire & Rescue and Umpqua Valley Ambulance, were dispatched to the scene. The investigation revealed that a 2015 Mazda 6 was traveling eastbound on Garden Valley Road when it suddenly steered sharply into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a westbound 2019 Toyota Tacoma. The operator of the Mazda, 23-year-old Kaylie Ann York of Roseburg, was declared deceased at the scene. The operator of the Toyota, 66-year-old Frank Edward Pollak, was seriously injured in the collision and was transported to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene, and next of kin have been notified. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
