Description

As our District’s Peace Chair, I would like to share the congratulations we received on earning Global Peacebuilder District recognition! We achieved this distinction by contributing District Designated Funds or district cash during Rotary year 2024-25 to support Rotary Peace Centers and the peacebuilding and conflict prevention area of focus.
Global Peacebuilder Districts like ours play an essential role in supporting the work of the Rotary Peace Centers and our grassroots efforts in peacebuilding. Our district contributions are part of the funding that allows up to 130 Peace Fellows to study in fields related to peace and development at our Rotary Peace Centers located at leading universities around the world. More than 1,800 alumni of the peace centers program are advancing peace in more than 140 countries, from leading local initiatives in communities to guiding policy development at the United Nations and other multilateral organizations.
As more Peace Fellows graduate each year, Rotary increases its impact in peace building. Support from districts like ours also enables the program to expand into key geographic regions. After opening a new peace center in Africa in 2021, The Rotary Foundation established a Rotary Peace Center in Istanbul, Türkiye, for fellows focused on peacebuilding within the Middle East and North Africa. Our next regional peace center will open in 2027 at Symbiosis International University in Pune, India, for peace and development professionals from across Asia.
Our generous contributions also support the important peacebuilding and conflict prevention work that clubs and districts do through projects supported by The Rotary Foundation. These activities train leaders in Positive Peace, work to address the root causes of conflict, and build the capacity of communities around the world to create environments where peace can happen.
Global Peacebuilder Districts like ours are invaluable to Rotary’s peace and conflict prevention initiatives. Thank you for your continued generosity in support of peace and global understanding, which is a cornerstone of Rotary’s mission.
