Description

A teacher and rising kindergarten students at Vose Elementary in Beaverton during story time. Gov. Tina Kotek asked the State Board of Education on Thursday to prohibit school districts from using student-contact days as furlough days to balance budgets, in order to preserve instructional time.

Oregon school districts would no longer be able to cut school days or hours from the calendar to balance their budgets, under a directive issued Thursday by Gov. Tina Kotek that’s under immediate, emergency consideration by the state Board of Education.
