‘Honoring the whale’: Oregon tribe will host storytelling event about historic humpback harvest

A stranded humpback whale was harvested by the Siletz tribe in November, 2025. This week, the tribe will reflect on the experience.

A Pacific Northwest tribe is hosting a public event discussing its relationship with the whale seven months after the tribe’s historic whale harvest on the central Oregon coast.
