Instead of a solid block of grass in the yard, she now sees prairie junegrass and other native plants swaying in the breeze.AFTER: Pollinators rely on clover, used as a turfgrass alternative in Nicole Wear and Calle Holmgren's yard, as a source of food and habitat.BEFORE Eastmoreland homeowners Nicole Wear and Calle Holmgren were not using their grassy backyard but it still required mowing and water.Yards with less turfgrass, a dense ground cover that offers few resources for beneficial pollinators, and more water-saving, low-maintenance native plants attract butterflies and bees.Achillea millefolium 'Salmon Beauty' grows alongside a gravel path at the home of Nicole Wear and Calle Holmgren.
