As mosquito activity increases across much of the United States during the summer months, public health officials are encouraging people to take simple precautions that can help reduce the risk of West Nile virus and other mosquito-borne illnesses, according to a CDC report. While most mosquito bites are only a nuisance, some mosquitoes can carry viruses capable of causing serious illness in humans.
