GILLIAM COUNTY, Ore. (28 September 2026) – On Sunday, September 27, 2026, at approximately 12:23 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 84 near milepost 140 in Gilliam County.  The preliminary investigation indicated, a white Toyota Avalon, operated by Adhishwar Ramanathan (24) of Umatilla, was traveling eastbound on I-84 near Arlington when it left the lane of travel for an unknown reason and struck the end of the guardrail. The vehicle came to rest facing westbound in the eastbound lane.  The operator of the Toyota (Ramanathan) was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation.  OSP was assisted by the Gilliam County Sheriff’s Office, the North Gilliam County Rural Fire Protection District, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
