Description
From the Construction/Woodworking High School Skills Day Team today at SWOCC: Here are a few pics of some not quite finished "mini house build" projects. We had such a great day and everyone was awesome! We had two students from Bandon High School and one from Myrtle Point High School who competed in our competition today. We had a team of students from Brookings-Harbor High School also arrive and though they did not compete, they were able to enjoy a great team activity! We had two other schools show interest and 16 students who originally registered, so we will be ready for them next year! Super exciting event today at the college that also included Welding, Diesel Mechanic Technology, Criminal Justice, Public Speaking, Art, Math, and Robotics!! ♡ Thank you to our Pre Apprentice Instructor Ronnie Long for this project design and support; LIFT Project Coordinator/Advisor Charline Meyer for your continuous help, Michael J Bohannon for delivering our wood donation from Brookings; Rouse Slape with Slape Construction for judging and helping us with the event, and Anthony Velazquez with Master Blaster of Coos Bay for your help, too! We look forward to working more with you both soon with our SWOCC Works Pre-Apprentice program. We are so grateful to the entire event staff, our event lead CTE Dean DeAnne Bartrow Varitek, our supply donors Farr's Hardware and South Coast Lumber, and every single dining hall, janitorial, or other employee who made this event possible. On a personal note, a very special thank you to my husband Jeff Meyers for everything. You are amazing. ♡
