The suit alleges Multnomah County Sheriff's Deputy Edwin Diaz groomed and targeted vulnerable women in the jail’s mental health unit. The woman who filed suit said after she was beaten and sexually assaulted in her jail supervisors did nothing to address her complaints.

A Multnomah County sheriff’s deputy is accused in a federal lawsuit filed this week of slamming a prisoner’s head against a wall and sexually assaulting her after she tried to thwart his advances, including letters he would leave on her meal tray or slip under her cell door.
