An Oregon man accused of killing five women in the Portland area has been charged in connection with the death of a sixth woman.

Multnomah County District Attorney Nathan Vasquez announced Wednesday that Jesse Lee Calhoun was charged for the death of 32-year-old Elizabeth “Libby” Gibson, of Portland. The grand jury returned an indictment for manslaughter in the first degree against Calhoun.

Gibson was last seen in 2022 but was not reported missing until March 2023. Prosecutors believe Calhoun killed her on Nov. 18, 2022. That would make her death the first among those Calhoun allegedly killed.

Gibson’s body has still not been found, they said.

In a statement issued by the district attorney’s office, Gibson’s family called the indictment “a definitive step toward justice.”

“Libby was kind, creative, and silly. She welcomed everyone with love and acceptance,” the statement read. “Her future was tragically taken from her way too soon.”

Calhoun already faces five charges of second-degree murder. Prosecutors say that, in addition to Gibson, he killed five women during a six-month span in 2022 and 2023.

In 2024, he was charged with the murders of 24-year-old Charity Lynn Perry, 31-year-old Bridget Leann Webster and 32-year-old Joanna Speaks.

In August 2025, he was charged with the murder of 22-year-old Kristin Smith. In May of this year, prosecutors also charged him with the murder of 22-year-old Ashley Real.

“The loss of life here is immense,” Vasquez said. “The scope is difficult to really even comprehend, and my heart goes out to each of the victim’s family as they are dealing with this profound and horrific tragedy each and every day.”

Multnomah County Senior Deputy District Attorney Melissa Marrero said the district attorney’s office is asking the public for any information about Gibson’s disappearance or death.

“To the extent that individuals have been willing to come forward in the past and provide information to us — no matter how small — that information has led us to where we are here today,” Marrero said.

How police came to connect Calhoun with Gibson’s disappearance remains unclear. Prosecutors have yet to release the indictment, and they declined to answer questions from reporters about how Gibson knew Calhoun or how she disappeared, citing the ongoing investigation.

Calhoun will have an arraignment in Multnomah County Circuit Court on Monday.

Marrero said it’s possible that the new charges could push back Calhoun’s trial. A planned jury trial for September 2027 had already been canceled.
