🌲 June is Search and Rescue Awareness Month! 🌲

Our Coos County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) team is proud to honor the 25 dedicated volunteers who serve our community. These heroes, including Man Tracking, K-9 Teams, Ground Searchers, and Overhead volunteers, train up to 4 days a month—completely unpaid—sacrificing personal time to be ready to respond day or night. Their commitment saves lives, and we’re grateful for their selflessness.

Governor Tina Kotek has declared June Search and Rescue Awareness Month to celebrate these efforts and remind everyone to stay safe outdoors. With Oregon’s peak tourist season here, let’s keep our SAR teams’ load lighter by preparing for your adventures:

✅ Pack the 10 essentials (food, water, sun protection, etc.)
✅ Stay on marked trails and respect safety signs
✅ Share your plans with someone—include your route and return time
✅ Check weather, trail conditions, and campfire restrictions
✅ Boaters: Wear life jackets and plan for water conditions

Let’s honor our volunteers by exploring Oregon safely! 💙 #SARAwarenessMonth #CoosCountySAR #StaySafe
